Well we outdid ourselves in our choice of restaurant last night - in my opinion the best night we've had so far. We failed to find the okinomiyaki (cabbage pancake) restaurant we were looking for and instead found a relatively busy small restaurant with no English menus and three very excitable happy helpful hosts.
Having established we wanted fish and okinomiyaki they showed us a fish fillet in a pan to which we nodded. The fish turned out to be yellowtail and was yummy. The pancake was much better than the one we had in Tokyo.
They brought us sashimi - we're not too sure what the red coloured thing on the plate was - it was so muscly I couldn't chew it. Possibly a sucker from a massive octopus? We had endamame and Rich had tasty pork yakitori. Then came the surprise - it looked very much like a prawn head, and it was, deep fried so you could eat it in one. Glasgow eat your heart out! I couldn't face the legs so took those off, it was a little crunchy but it was surprisingly OK. And provided our hosts with many laughs as they saw the looks on our faces. We made full use of the handy translation apps on all our phones to help communicate. The beer may have helped. All in all a fun evening.
